Services

Practical support for production, assembly and manufacturing flow.

FlowForge Engineering helps manufacturers improve the way work moves through the operation. The focus is visibility, bottlenecks, workflow, reporting, layout and practical systems that teams can use day to day.

Shopfloor visibility systems

Not just forms or spreadsheets. Working systems your team can use.

These systems are designed to capture important shopfloor information at the source, route it properly, and make it visible enough for supervisors and managers to act. The aim is simple: fewer lost issues, fewer forgotten ideas and better day-to-day production control.

Part Issue Reporting & Escalation System

A practical escalation system for part, quality and build issues, so problems are captured clearly, routed quickly and easier to follow up.

Best when: Useful when issues are getting lost in conversations, Teams messages, emails or informal handovers.

Typical setup can include

  • QR-code issue reporting form
  • Structured issue log
  • Issue ID generation
  • Photo and evidence upload
  • Automatic email routing
  • PDF issue report generation
  • Edit-entry links and status tracking
  • Optional dashboard for open issues, trends and recurring parts or suppliers

Continuous Improvement Idea System

A complete idea capture and prioritisation system that helps turn shopfloor ideas into visible, trackable improvement opportunities.

Best when: Useful when good ideas are being mentioned on the floor but not captured, prioritised or followed through.

Typical setup can include

  • QR-code idea submission form
  • Structured idea register
  • Scoring and prioritisation logic
  • Automatic email notifications
  • Printable QR posters for the facility
  • Simple SOP and rollout guidance
  • Optional Looker Studio management dashboard
  • Optional monthly review and refinement support

Production Skills & Training Matrix System

A live production capability system that helps team leaders see who is in training, trained, expert or due for refresh.

Best when: Useful when skill coverage, training progress and cross-training gaps are difficult to see at a glance.

Typical setup can include

  • Area-based skill structure
  • Team leader update form
  • Live production skills matrix
  • Training status levels
  • Refresh or expiry flags
  • Simple SOP for team leaders
  • Optional dashboard for training gaps and area coverage
  • Cross-training visibility for supervisors and managers

Dashboard add-on

Add a live management dashboard when visibility needs to go beyond the register.

A Looker Studio dashboard can be connected to the underlying Google Sheet to show trends, open items, priorities and activity over time. The structure is usually a one-time setup, with updates flowing through as long as the source columns remain stable.

Core system

  • Form or submission workflow
  • Live register or tracker
  • Routing, scoring or status logic
  • QR posters and rollout support
  • Simple SOP or user guidance

Optional add-ons

  • Looker Studio dashboard
  • Monthly review and refinement
  • Management reporting views
  • Trend and priority analysis
  • Ongoing support for changes

A practical first version of a visibility system can often be implemented quickly, sometimes within 48 hours, depending on the site, required customisation and how much rollout material is needed.

Production Reviews start from A$1,500.

Production Reviews

A focused first step to understand the operation, identify the biggest drag points and create a practical improvement direction.

Best for: Manufacturers who know something needs sorting but want a grounded view before committing to a bigger project.

Typical outcomes

  • Clearer view of bottlenecks, workflow drag and visibility gaps
  • Prioritised improvement opportunities
  • A practical next-step recommendation

May include

  • Current-state conversation and review
  • Operational pain-point assessment
  • Review of layout, workflow, data and follow-up habits
  • Short findings summary with recommended next steps

Smaller visibility-system projects often start from A$1,200–A$2,500.

Shopfloor Visibility Systems

Productised systems that make issues, improvement ideas, skills and daily production information easier to capture, prioritise and act on.

Best for: Teams dealing with blind spots, loose follow-up, scattered spreadsheets or shopfloor information that is not visible enough to support daily control.

Typical outcomes

  • Faster visibility of recurring problems and improvement opportunities
  • Cleaner handover between issue identification, prioritisation and action
  • Better day-to-day awareness for team leaders, supervisors and managers

May include

  • Part Issue Reporting & Escalation System
  • Continuous Improvement Idea System
  • Production Skills & Training Matrix System
  • QR posters, registers, workflows, SOPs and rollout support

Typical setups start from A$1,200, with larger scopes quoted separately.

KPI & Reporting Dashboards

Turn scattered production data into reporting that helps supervisors and managers make better decisions faster.

Best for: Businesses still chasing numbers manually, relying on messy spreadsheets or lacking a clear operational picture.

Typical outcomes

  • Clearer visibility across output, labour and performance
  • Better management conversations around real priorities
  • Less time wasted piecing data together manually

May include

  • Daily and weekly reporting structures
  • Supervisor and management dashboard views
  • Practical KPI selection
  • Google Sheets or Looker Studio reporting options
  • Handover and walkthrough

Smaller layout reviews and redesigns often begin around A$2,500.

Layout & Workflow Improvement

Improve movement, reduce wasted effort and make better use of floor space, labour and workstation layout.

Best for: Factories dealing with awkward layouts, excess movement, poor workstation flow or messy handoffs.

Typical outcomes

  • Smoother movement through the process
  • Less wasted motion and unnecessary handling
  • Better use of people, space and workstation design

May include

  • Current-state layout review
  • Workflow and movement analysis
  • Improved workstation recommendations
  • Practical changes that support smoother flow

On-site troubleshooting starts from A$1,750/day.

On-site Troubleshooting

Hands-on support for operational headaches, production bottlenecks, stuck improvement work or problems that need proper attention on site.

Best for: Factories that need a practical engineering brain on the ground without hiring full-time.

Typical outcomes

  • Structured assessment of likely causes
  • Clear action priorities
  • Practical support with next steps and implementation thinking

May include

  • On-site review and problem diagnosis
  • Workstation, flow or process observation
  • Team discussion where useful
  • Recommended next steps after the visit

Advisory support starts from A$160/hour. Fractional support starts from A$2,500/month.

Advisory & Fractional Engineering Support

Ongoing or targeted support for manufacturers that need practical engineering input without a full-time hire.

Best for: Businesses that want regular help with production improvement, reporting, layout, systems or operational decision-making.

Typical outcomes

  • More consistent improvement momentum
  • A practical second view before bigger decisions
  • Flexible support that can scale with the need

May include

  • Remote or on-site advisory support
  • Monthly support structures
  • Project and improvement oversight
  • Vendor-neutral operational input

Boundaries

What FlowForge is not set up to do.

Clear boundaries help bring in the right work and avoid the wrong enquiries. FlowForge is a production and manufacturing improvement service, not a broad R&D or design engineering firm.

  • Product design, industrial design or CAD drafting as a standalone service
  • R&D engineering, invention development or product certification
  • Structural, civil, electrical or building engineering certification
  • Machine safety certification, WHS auditing or legal compliance sign-off
  • Accounting, legal, tax or migration advice
  • Guaranteed output increases unless a written project scope specifically says otherwise

Where the work happens

Based in Sydney. Available Australia-wide.

Sydney site work

For local manufacturers, site visits are usually the cleanest way to understand the reality of the floor and speak with the people closest to the work.

Australia-wide support

Day trips and multi-day visits can be quoted where the work justifies travel. Remote work can cover review preparation, dashboards, systems and follow-up.

International by agreement

Remote support may be possible for suitable overseas projects, subject to scope, insurance, tax, sanctions and local requirements.

First step

The easiest way to start is usually a Production Review.

It gives you a clearer view before committing to a larger project or implementing a new shopfloor visibility system.
